School Women's Basketball Team Visits Seattle :

Invited by Mike McGinn, the mayor of Seattle and assisted by Confucius Institute and America¨CAsia-Pacific Foundation, our school women's basketball team left for Seattle and Portlan in the early January in 2013 for a 13-day exchange visit.

This exchange visit was mainly in Chief Sealth International High School. Teachers and students of our school stayed in the host families. During their visit, students participated in the training of basketball basic technique given by NBA retired athletes and enjoyed the NBA basketball games. Meanwhile, students also took a Chinese class and P.E. class in Tai Yi Middle School and Chang Qing Middle School which enable students to have a deeper understanding of what American classes are like.

With basketball as the theme of this exchange visit, our women basketball team had a match with the students of Chief Sealth International High School, aiming at collect money for local charities. The match was highly valued by local Chinese associations, relevant organizations and Chief Sealth International High School. The enthusiasm of the dragon dance team, music band, cheerleaders, and audiences including Mayor Mike McGinn absolutely fascinated our players. Our coaches and students were extremely dedicate and made every effort to play a tremendous game, which in return, lead to the final victory.

After the match, the mayor and basketball fans strongly suggest an extra friendly. Organized by Director Xiao, Mayor Mike McGinn and Nankai's players cooperated tacitly, bringing the match to a climax. This basketball not only brought happiness to players and audiences , but also strengthen the friendship between Chinese students and American students. Mayor Mike McGinn even sincerely invited our players to the University of Washington for further study in the future.
